Great Testimonial
Ann Brauer wrote a post in her blog about a custom painting. Here's an excerpt:
"When she began working she sent me a snapshot of the house half finished. What should the lights look like reflected on the snow? I tried to tell her to use her discretion--that is why I wanted her to create this painting. But I did get up early one morning after my husband had left for work, turn on all the lights and snap a picture of the house. She tweaked the painting a bit."

Raven's Wing Studio
Burnell Yow! of Raven's Wing Studio wrote about Carol in his blog post titled "Carol Boucher – Meet the Artists Who Have Inspired Us to Part with Our Cash". Here's an excerpt:
"She had gotten Carol’s business card and had spent hours on her website viewing her marvelous artworks. It was this particular piece, however, that had gotten under Betsy’s skin and into her heart. So, when we returned to the festival this year, it was more or less a given that if the piece was still available, it would be coming home with us."

Happy Autumn!
Three more shows to go. On 10/2-3, I'll be at the Gracie Square Art Show on East End Avenue near Carl Schurz Park and Gracie Mansion in Manhattan. On 10/9-10, it's on to Greenwich, CT for the Outdoor Art Festival of the Bruce Museum. I'll be demonstrating oil pastels during the show. Come ask questions or roll up your sleeves and give them a try! I'll have multiple oil pastel sets available. The last show of my 2010 season will be Bethesda Row Arts Festival, Bethesda, MD. Then I'm off to Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT, for a month of intensive painting, to help me prepare for show season 2011.

My Booth in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, September 2010, with Oil Pastel Paintings
During the coming months, I expect to have time to complete special projects, including commissions. If you have always wanted your favorite view painted, feel free to contact me. I enjoy commissions and custom work, and I would be honored to work with you to create a special painting of your home, your view, etc.

Happy Spring!
This year marks the 10th anniversary of my website, carolboucher.com. Year 10 is reputed to be the tin and aluminum anniversary, but in our household, it’s the steel, chrome and fiberglas anniversary: I just picked up our new Ford Econoline van. The old one logged over 150,000 miles traveling to shows across the U.S. All those miles helped me connect with all of you through my art ... amazing!

I’m excited to get back on the road, and I look forward to seeing you at a show! Folks on the mailing list will receive their cards soon. Please let me know via email if you want to be on or off the list.
For this year’s roster of events, click here. I’ve detailed a few highlights from this year’s roster:
April-October 2010
Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant
Spectacular views, congenial and professional hosts Susan and Mike Tranby, Chef Dan’s great food ... and my oil pastel paintings on some of the walls. Shore Acres is my favorite place to visit.
May 2010
Fort Worth, Texas
I’ll be visiting the school district’s exemplary art education department, sharing my knowledge of oil pastel techniques with the teachers and the gifted students. This fantastic opportunity came about through connection with Beverly Fletcher, Art Director of Fort Worth Independent School District. I met Beverly at the Vermont Studio Center when I participated in a painting residency November-December 2009. She and her artist friend and colleague Alison Aldrich teach art in Fort Worth public schools. It was wonderful to meet kindred spirits, and I look forward to reconnecting with them on my visit, and sharing my love of oil pastels with their faculty and students.
July 15, 2010 - August 15, 2010
Trilogy--Art Exhibition at Emile Gruppe Gallery, Jericho, VT

Build Me a Landscape" monotype with colored pencil and oil pastel
12" x 12" copyright 2010 by Carol Boucher
Monotype exhibition with Dorothy L Martinez and Jane S Morgan. We’ve been artists and friends since the 1990s and thought we should put together a top notch exhibit of our favorite monotypes, many of which we began or completed in one another’s presence at monotype workshops. An opening reception will be held on July 25, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. Gallery hours 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, or by appointment.
November-December 2010
Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, VT
Residency program in painting

My Studio, November-December 2009, Vermont Studio Center

Paintings Created at Vermont Studio Center, November-December 2009
I will return to VSC for a month to explore new techniques and to begin creating a new body of work for 2011. Going to VSC has been part retreat, part networking with artists from all over the globe, and a terrific way to renew and refresh my art. The friendly year-round staff/artists welcome me like family. I recommend VSC for working artists who aren’t looking for instruction (none is given; artists are expected to work on their own, quite different from attending workshops and classes).

Happy Summer!
Three of my paintings are reproduced in recently published Verve Editions The Art of Lake Champlain. Representing the work of 50 visual artists, the hardcover book commemorates the 400th anniversary of the discovery of Lake Champlain. It retails for $24.95 and may be ordered by contacting Erin Ostreicher at Verve Editions.
All are invited to the opening reception for "Land and Light" at Bryan Memorial Gallery in Jeffersonville, VT on Sunday, July 26 from 3-5 p.m. For more information, please contact www.bryangallery.org
On Tuesday, July 28 from 10 a.m.-noon, I will demonstrate oil pastel painting at Brownell Library in Essex Junction, VT. Participation is encouraged. Materials and supplies provided, admission is free.

Happy Spring!
News from the Art Laboratory ...
In March, I painted with oils and created 75 new monotypes in an intensive 3-day program. You may view them at upcoming shows. In April, I finished two large acrylic/oil paintings, commissioned by my favorite resort, Shore Acres Inn and Restaurant. You may view them here:
